Hyaluronic Acid has been about for years, and I use it religiously every single night. It’s the go to ingredient for all skin types, but especially if you’re struggling with dryness or dehydration (I am both those things). So when I saw the Superdrug range Me+ had a new cleanser with this star ingredient, I had to pick it up. It was also on two offers at the same time making it just £3.48 a bottle instead of the usual £6.99 which naturally made the risk even more appealing.
Firstly, the Me+ range from Superdrug is all vegan and cruelty free which is a huge bonus, and the products I’ve tried from the range before have been fantastic for the price; simple, ingredient based products without all the faff of fancy packaging or an over powering scent. I regularly reach for Me+ products over other similar ones such as The Ordinary or Revolution Skincare because its a name and a brand that has never let me down.
So onto the cleanser. The first time I tried this cleanser I used it as my first cleanse to remove a full face of makeup: foundation, mascara, liquid lipstick… The lot. It did remove all the makeup, but it felt really strange whilst I was using it. It doesn’t foam up at all, I felt more like I’d used a thick moisturiser on my face and I was just pushing the product around my face and not necessarily actually removing anything. Removing all the product, cleanser and all, with a muslin cloth took off every scrap of makeup from my face.
Because of the slightly peculiar texture, I used it again the next day as my second cleanse. I didn’t use it this time around my eye area, focusing just on the skin and massaging it in to really feel the benefits of those skin loving ingredients. I feel like this is the only way to use this particular cleanser. Some are fabulous around the eye area, but this one just felt wrong as a first cleanse to actually remove tough makeup like mascara.
After I’d used my muslin cloth to remove the cleanser, I found it left my skin feeling really clean (this is not always a given!) and lovely and soft. Sometimes my skin can feel stripped and tight after cleansing, but with this one it wasn’t the case. My skin felt nourished and glowy and really comfortable. Its a win for me!
I have also used this cleanser in the morning before my daytime skincare. I don’t always do this, it depends entirely on what skincare I did the night before. If I’ve used a peeling night cream such as the Glycolic Acid Overnight Peel, it needs washing off in the morning. This cleanser is perfect for this job, as it feels gentle and nourishing and creates the perfect base for all my daytime skincare products.
So the ultimate test is, would I rebuy this product? And the answer for this cleanser is, yes. It doesn’t replace my ultimate favourite Hot Cloth Cleanser, but it definitely has its place in my skincare cupboard. Even just for a morning cleanse in the shower, the way it makes my skin feel after I’ve used it makes it a firm choice for me.
Are there any new skincare products you’ve discovered recently? What’s your holy grail cleanser?

Sounds like a great cleanser, great that it’s vegan and cruelty free too! I love Kate Somerville’s goat milk cleanser and FRESH’s soy cleanser! x

Its such good value for money too!x
This sounds like a lovely cheaper option! My favourite balm is stupidly expensive so I like adding products like this to my collection just to make that one last a little longer. I don’t like to use anything that lathers so this sounds ideal for me x
