My brows have always been, and will continue to be, difficult. Not in the sense that they’re unruly or difficult to style, but more that the actual hairs are so fair, fine and sparse that I find it incredibly hard to create any sort of believable depth to them. They are also so completely different from one another, I can so often spend far too long trying to make them look as though they’re even in the same family let alone sisters not twins.
Most brow gels on the market are designed and marketed for the laminated brow trend, making the gorgeous hairs growing out above your eyeballs appear sleek and well groomed. All very well if those said hairs are visible on your forehead space, I am not so lucky. Its not that I over plucked in my youth and am now feeling the repercussions, I just have very few to begin with and the few I have are so blonde they cant be seen against my fair skin.
I’ve tried many brow gels, light hold, strong hold, clear, tinted. I have a few that I like, but none that give me the natural fluffy brows of my dreams, until… Wow Brow.
E.L.F. Wow Brow – 5 shades available for £6 from Superdrug – All ELF products are vegan and cruelty free.
Get full, voluminous-looking brows with this buildable, fiber-infused brow gel. This wax-gel hybrid formula adheres to brow hairs and brushes them into place while depositing hair-like fibers for fuller looking brows that wow.
First Impression
Although I’ve tried brow gels with fibers in before, this one was so much more fiber-y and felt almost dry, as though the fibers weren’t in a gel they were just in the tube alone. It was a completely new experience to me, but the first application was so incredibly easy and mess free. It brushed through my brows and deposited the coloured fibers so easily, but without any of the usual mess on my skin that I usually get because I’m clumsy and an absolute mess.
I did fill in my brows with the E.L.F. brow pencil first, then brushed through with the wow brow and WOW indeed. Fluffy brows of dreams were pretty much instant, the hairs appeared truly thickened and defined by the gel and the slightest tint of colour was subtle but just the perfect amount to be paired with something else prior.
It isn’t a strong hold gel, so they cant necessarily be placed precisely where you may want them, but it does have some sticking ability and I found it quite easy to brush them upwards to fill in the arch more. The fiber gel also helped to build up the more sparse areas nicely, without looking heavy or depositing too much product that it goes everywhere as is so often the case.
Wear Test
Although this isn’t a strong hold gel they did still look fluffy and full by the end of the day. The initial look wasn’t the perfectly laminated groomed look that seemed so popular last year, so as it wore through the day it didn’t make a difference to the over all look.
By the end of the day the brows still remained fluffy and defined, and the colour hadn’t run or transferred even on more hard wearing days.
My overall thoughts are, this brow gel is incredible! I’ve never had my brows look so natural and fluffy, whilst also looking groomed and styled. For £6 I think this brow gel is truly fantastic and I want to see if there’s a slightly darker shade now my hair is darker, brunette is fine but sometimes I want a really strong brow look so a deeper shade would fit into my daily routine nicely.
I have tried this product on completely bare brows with no pencil before hand, and although it does give a nice effect, I personally prefer a more filled in look due to the lack of colour in my natural brows.
Have you tried this brow gel from E.L.F. cosmetics?

I’ve not tried this before, but I’ve been on the lookout for a new brow gel. I currently use one from abh, and have been looking for a cheaper alternative. I’ll definitely look into this one, it sounds great xx

It sounds like a skip for me, because my brows are sparse, due to over-plucking, so I’d still need to use a pencil! x
