Choosing a highlight is such a personal choice, when I first started considering my makeup choices I would just choose the lightest most ice-y toned light coloured highlighter. This evidently ended up in me buying silver white highlighters that made me look more like the tin man than a glowing goddess, which ultimately is always my goal. Since my first encounter with a powder highlight a few years ago, I’ve taken many risks (I’m looking at you rainbow stripe highlighter that has literally never been used) and found a good bunch of champagne, light golden toned highlighters that are the perfect tone for pale skin.
Revolution X Soph Highlight Palette
Although I use all these colours fairly regularly, I do appreciate that a baby pink highlight isn’t for every look. I mention this palette purely for the second colour on the top row, it is the most beautiful warm champagne tone that I reach for all the time. I originally bought this palette for the first shade, sticking with the ice cold blinding pop but tried the next shade along ‘just because’ and its now a firm favourite. I still use the first shade to add an extra see-me-from-space bling right on the high points of my cheeks. £8 for 8 pans, and the colourful shades work perfectly as a little accent in the middle of a simple eyeshadow look too for ultimate multi use product!
Revolution Jewel Collection Jelly Highlighter in Monumental
I actually received this as a free gift with purchase from Revolution.com and I’m so happy I didn’t discount it off the bat. I would have never considered a jelly highlighter for fear of it being a gimmick and not even worth playing with, but I tried it and was instantly sold. Not only is the shade perfect, but the finish makes your skin look wet. The glow is that good. I worried that it would ‘gloop’ up on top of my other products, and although I use it with care and ensure I don’t use any powder products before I apply it, the finish is flawless. This gives the softest lit from within glow and can be worn on its own for a no make up day, or as a base for a powder highlight on a full glam day. Or you know, just a casual Tuesday on the sofa?
XX Revolution Highlighter in Echo

I received this for Christmas, and to say its been worn on pretty much every day that I’ve worn makeup since then wouldn’t be too hard to believe. The shade reflects the most blinding champagne tone with a slight pink, nude shift. It is unnoticeable on the skin until it catches the light and then BAM. Straight up blinding glow! It can be blended out for a more natural effect, but that isn’t really my preference. Its also worth noting the packaging of this product is beautiful and so robust, I wouldn’t worry travelling with this in my makeup case. Not that that’s going to happen any time this decade, but hey ho.
Revolution Highlight Reloaded in ‘Dare to Divulge’
I will get to the products that aren’t by Revolution soon, but not before I mention this one. This pan is HUGE, I am certain I’ll never run out of this beautiful shade. Admittedly it is more of a summer shade, it comes out on the skin a stunning warm light golden glow perfect for summer evenings (remember those?). There’s a tonne of shades in this range from Revolution, and I’ve tried a few, but this one is my go to for a natural glow when I have a little bit of a tan, deeper skin tones would look incredible with this or ‘Just My Type’ washed over the high points.
Maybelline Master Chrome Extreme Diamond Glow
Do you want to summon aliens from outer space with your highlighter? Of course you do! This is the product for you, it should come with a warning to not wear it within ten miles of any airfield. Serious warning, use a small amount and the lightest touch and watch the pay off. The reflection this highlight creates isn’t glittery, but somehow gives the most blinding glow. I don’t understand the science behind it, but I don’t need to know that to know that this is one of the best highlights I’ve ever tried! I often use this on a smaller brush to add a glint of something extra to the very high points of the cheeks with other products, because when it one highlighter ever enough?
Loreal Paris Glow Cherie Natural Glow Enhancer in Light Glow

This is a wildcard, but hear me out. I wear this particular product all over my face. You read that right. It isn’t like a liquid highlighter in that it is so intensely reflective that it needs to be used in a precise area. It’s a subtle glow that suits being worn all over the face, under foundation to give the perfect angelic glow. I have dry skin, so anything that adds that natural luminosity to the skin is my jam. I wear this on its own when I feel like my skin needs a little pep in its step but I don’t want a full face of makeup on, or layer it under any of my favourite foundations (They’re listed here if your interested).
Maxfactor Miracle Contour Sculpting Wand in Universal
Does anyone else only think of Maxfactor as a natural brand, because I certainly used too. I wouldn’t have thought that Maxfactor would do any highlighter that I would be interested in, but I saw someone use this on YouTube and it looked beautiful, so decided to give it a go for myself. This makes your skin look like wet, the glow looks so natural and seamless on the skin but at the same time still so luminous. My favourite way to wear this is blended out with a beauty sponge onto the cheeks and above the brow bone, then add a powder highlight onto the highest points of the cheeks for an extra pop.
Are any of these your favourites or are there any others you think I’d love? Let me know in the comments!
Enjoy, Milli x

It’s so lovely on the skin, especially on ‘no make up’ days with no foundation on! x
