NEW Colossal Curl Bounce Mascara Review

Maybelline makes arguably the best affordable mascaras at the drugstore, their Lash Sensational and Sky High are loved by many with varied wishes. Whether your looking for length, volume or curl, natural or false lash effect, chances are Maybelline has you covered. I personally love every Maybelline mascara I’ve tried, they really are unparalleled in the market.

So when I saw this new formula drop on the Superdrug website, of course I jumped at the opportunity to try it for myself. The wand promises to separate, coat & curl lashes for high volume and curl impact. While there is also new technology in the formula itself to holds curl all day with no flaking, smudge resistant and clump-free. Quite some claims, but I had no doubt in my mind that it was completely true after trying so many other amazing formulas.

First Impression And Wear Test

The tube is a really high end feeling white hard plastic, its significantly bigger than other packaging I’ve tried but there is also nearly four grams more product which is fantastic. The wand is a natural bristle brush with some serious curve to it. The formula itself is the perfect mix of not too wet, and not too dry. You know the feeling when you get a new mascara and its too wet to do anything to your lashes but after a few weeks its just perfect, this one is perfect straight out the tube!

The curvature of the brush really helps to grab the lashes at the base and curl them upwards, the length of the bristles combs through the lashes to avoid clumps and by some magic the curl actually stays!

Now a little known fact about me is I never ever curl my lashes, I have a fear of using an eyelash curler and ripping my own eyeball out so I stay away from curlers altogether. I don’t have poker straight lashes, but a bit more gravity defying curl wouldn’t go amiss! This certainly delivered on that. The lashes went up, and stayed up all day, even staying there one night when I forgot to take my eye makeup off (whoops) so the 24 hours of curl claim definitely came through (though I wouldn’t recommend it).

Another problem I have is mascara transferring onto my upper and lower lids, it happens with most mascaras on me as I have quite long lashes and oily eyelids, strange complaint I know but I have to work around it. This mascara didn’t transfer at all and stayed the blackest of blacks on my lashes all day. It didn’t crumble or drop through the day or smudge round my eyes, which is a miracle quite frankly as all mascaras do that on me!

Would I recommend?

100% yes! It has been my most worn mascara since I bought it which has been about a month. I’ve been trying other ones, some new releases and some oldies, but I keep going back to this one to deliver without compromise. Some mascaras give length but don’t have the lasting power, some give incredible curl when first applied but flop through the day, some don’t really give anything and transfer all over my face but this one ticks all the boxes.
