REVLON PhotoReady Candid Glow – Foundation Review

The Revlon PhotoReady Candid foundation has been knocking around for a while, and it was always one that I wanted to try. But when I saw they had a GLOW version, you know I just had to grab it immediately. I hadn’t seen anything about it online, partially on purpose but also I just kept seeing the original one everywhere. The claims for this foundation drew me in;

Show your glow! Incredibly lightweight and protective, this creamy dewy foundation evens your skin tone and minimises the appearance of things you’d rather not see while moisturising and giving you the dewy skin you’ve always wanted.

If you’ve been round here before, you know that I love a lightweight coverage and dewy finish. I have extremely dry skin so anything that gives me a glow I’m here for it. This set me back £9.99 and comes in 16 shades which isn’t great, the darker shades seem limited while the choice for light to medium tones is good. I went for shade 130 Ivory and I also picked up the Rose Glow Hydrating and Illuminating Primer in 001 Rose Quarts.

Firstly, the primer. Unsurprisingly, it smells like roses which isn’t a scent I particularly enjoy, but it quickly dissipated as I blended it out over my skin. It has oil beads which burst on contact with your skin to hydrate and the iridescent shimmers look natural under foundation or alone. As for longevity, I don’t know if it helped keep my foundation on any longer, but it does make it look smoother and obviously more glowy so its a win for me.

Next up I tried out the foundation, the pump is a welcome addition to a squeezy tube which makes it so easy to apply. My first impression was that it felt very thick, like it would give a full coverage however when I blended it out is sheered right out and give a very light coverage on first application. I used two pumps which covered my whole face with a light coverage, however I could still see my redness through so I applied another pump across the bridge of my nose and cheeks. It did build nicely and I was happy with the level of coverage. I will just point out, the scent of the foundation reminded me of children’s makeup, a little play doh-ey?! It soon went away, but did worry me when I applied it to my face.

I wore the foundation for eight hours and it lasted nicely all day, and kept the same level of glow despite not wearing any powder. I will reiterate, I have very dry skin and rarely wear setting powder of any sort, sometimes foundations can look dry by the end of the day but this one looked lovely. I would say it looked just as good by the end of the day which is not always a given, so I would recommend if you also have dry skin.

Are there any new releases at the drug store you’re loving recently? Have you picked up this foundation? Let me know!

  9. Oooo I have to say both of these products look really good. I do not generally do primers and foundations from the drugstore but I did get a glowing primer from Cover Girl that I liked. I just may have to try these!
