Testing Collection Make Up: What’s Worth The Hype?

Of all the new releases at the drugstore recently, I feel like Collection have absolutely knocked it out the park with their newest products. From base products like primer, foundation and concealer to eye products and brow pencils, I got my hands on a lot of their products and tried them all out on my face. Lots of these have been HYPED online, but I had to try them for myself and share my thoughts on them all too!

Glossy Serum Primer – £3.99

As far as primers go, a product that you cant really see on the skin but is there to assist the other products, this one really is beautiful. It gives a glow to the skin and a real tack to grab onto the other base products, after trying the same products with and without this primer, everything is more long lasting with the primer without doubt!

It even gives a lovely blurred glow without anything else on the top. It does stay tacky on the face when blended out, so a powder over the top would be needed, but for a no makeup look this works perfectly to just perfect slightly and last all day long. It almost feels like a skincare makeup hybrid, which I’m so here for.

Stretch Concealer – £3.99

Did someone say dupe? Well I haven’t tried the Glossier one, so I couldn’t comment on that, but my oh my am I impressed with this product! A lightweight feeling, a glowy full coverage that lasts all day and looks absolutely flawless under the eyes, and for less than four quid? I can’t even put into words (but I’ll try) how fantastic this concealer is. I have worn this for a full glam face, and its also in my everyday makeup bag when I just need a little something to hide the designer eyebags.

It blends like a dream, I generally use a dense eyeshadow brush to get the product out the jar and a larger concealer brush to blend it out over the eyelids and down the side of the nose, I also stretch this out to cover the redness over my cheeks. With a bit of powder it doesn’t crease throughout the day, but still has that highlighted lit from within effect. I wear either shade 4 or 5.

10/10 recommend.

Gorgeous Glow Contour Stick – £4.99

I originally purchased this to replace my beloved loreal cream contour palette, with it being in stick form however I was a little bit worried it would be harder to use. I originally tried it by drawing straight onto my face and blending with an angled contour brush, and although this does work well I do prefer loading up the product on the brush and blending it over the face that way.

The colour is lovely, not to cool or too warm and on my skin tone its the perfect shade to mimic a shade. By picking up the product on a contour brush and applying it this way the colour blends out really easily and seamlessly, without messing up any products underneath. Similarly to the concealer, I have worn this with a full face of makeup and with no other base products, its so versatile and I reach for this most days. This has easily replaced the Loreal one in my makeup bag.

IncrediBrow Brow Plus Pencil – £4.99

As far as brow pencils go, I usually prefer a skinny tip or one that I can sharpen, but after reading the claims online I decided to give it a go. The texture is waxy, which makes sense when the first two ingredients are hydrogenated castor and coconut oil. Because of this texture it really does work as a pencil and setting gel in one easy application, as I draw the product through my brows it lays down the hairs and by going in with the spoolie on the other end to brush through and disperse the product slightly, it creates a lovely natural looking brow that stays well all day. I got the colour brunette and I love the shade on me, sometimes pencils like this come off very warm but this one is lovely.

I’m not very loyal when it comes to brow products, I like to try lots of different things so although this one was fine I wouldn’t rebuy it over trying something new. If your in he market for a new brow pencil and don’t want to break the bank, this is a good choice!

Other products used:

  • Collection Lasting Perfection Glow Foundation in Shade 4
  • MUA Matte Bronzer in Sunset Tan
  • Collection Eye Definer in Brown
  • Essence False Lash Effect Mascara
  • Revolution Lip Liner all over the lips in Ruby.

I don’t want to spoil it for you as I have another post coming up all about my wedding makeup, but lots of these products made it onto my face for my big day and that really is the highest praise I can give right?! My top choices and ones I will for sure repurchase are the stretch concealer and the contour stick, both really impressed me and the teeny tiny price tag is just the cherry on the cake.

Have you tried any of these products or are there any you want to pick up?
