Does anyone else feel like they went for a nap some time in the summer and have just woken up and suddenly Christmas is over and its the start of a brand new year? ‘Cos same. I don’t know if its because for nine months out of the year I was wishing the days away counting down to our wedding, or pandemic jetlag giving me a warped sense of time and reality but this year has just flown by, as well as dragged on for seven million months. How does time do that simultaneously? Anyway, stop rambling and get on with the products…
Revolution Pro Hydra Gloss in Wrath
I don’t know how I skipped over this one in my red lipstick roundup post (linked here) but hey ho. This isn’t new to me and it was definitely a favourite this time last year too but even more so this year. I have reached for this lip gloss pretty much every day this month its just beautiful. It doesn’t last forever and the colour fades as I eat or drink but it’s so hydrating and glossy but not gloopy or sticky, and is so easy to reapply. Don’t get me wrong, I love a matte lipstick, but my skin and lips have been super dry recently and this has been soothing them and giving a beautiful colour.
E.L.F. Putty Blush in Tahiti
Its absolutely no secret that the putty face products are some of my favourites, the putty bronzer is in my daily rotation and in summer the blush in shade Bora Bora did not leave my face for one single day, but when the weather started turning cooler I wasn’t completely in love with the colour anymore for this season. So I picked up a warmer deeper shade for winter and, again, it hasn’t left my face. A few month ago I mentioned a powder blush from Milani and I adore layering these together as well as just wearing the putty blush for a matte finish.
Its super pigmented so a light hand is needed but this deep shade works even on my super pale skin and suits the kind of looks I tend to create in winter. It is a matte finish but its not drying at all, its soft and gives an airbrush flush across the cheeks and because of the more dry texture it lasts beautifully all day, even under a mask.
Maybelline Sky High Mascara
Its viral for a reason, wowzas if you want long fluttery lashes that don’t droop or transfer this is such a good shout. Maybelline really do mascara incredibly well, I don’t know off the top of my head if I’ve ever tried a mascara from them that I didn’t love. One layer gives a fluttery natural long lash look, and two gives a dramatically long super black effect, it can really be tweaked to your preference which is why I’ve been reaching for it so much.
It isn’t the most volumizing or thickening mascara but it is so so lengthening, and if you want long and thick I love layering this under the essence lash princess mascara and that gives a false lash look that I’m obsessed with.
Huda Beauty Mint Obsessions Palette
I am absolutely no stranger to glitter, and I fully embrace it every Christmas but this year I had one obsession (do you see what I did there) and it was specifically the shade on the left on the middle row the blue and brown marbled one. Wow oh wow the subtle sparkle glitter all over my eyelid right up to my eyebrows with just a teeny bit of bronzer in the crease was exactly what I needed for all the festive season. I reached for this every single day at work and I loved it, I will definitely be reaching for this palette more in the coming year.
Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
After my post about the XX Revolution Cream Bronzer I wanted to try and find a brush that would work better with my cream contour products, I wanted something more dense and precise but also large enough to contour or bronze my face fairly quickly. Enter, expert face brush! This is literally the most perfect brush for cream contour and I’ve used with so many of my favourite cream products and it works perfectly. One swipe across the forehead, a few swirls at the side of the forehead and a swipe under the cheek bones and your done, its so quick to blend and looks flawless.
What one product have you been obsessed with this month? I have a yearly favourites post coming next week but would you also be interested to hear the product fails I’ve had this last year, or should I just keep it positive with my favourites? Let me know!
