I don’t know about any one else, but I feel like I’m on a never ending journey to find my ideal skincare routine. As much as I love the products I use, and therefore the results that I get, I’m always looking for one better. Around about this time last year I was seeing this serum all over my Instagram, everyone seemed to be using it and getting the most incredible results. Now I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it much (sarcasm incoming) but I got married in September last year, so I was reluctant to try anything new in the run up because knowing my luck my usually clear skin would definitely let me down!
Both the serum essence and the eye cream retail for £4 and are available in store and online.
Boots brands are Vegan and Cruelty Free.
Glow Essence – for a glowing complexion.
Firstly the Glow Essence. The first skincare ingredient listed on the website is Niacinamide, which is an ingredient I haven’t personally used before although I have heard very good things of other products containing this star ingredient. The applicator feels sturdy, which is a problem I have found with other dropper applicators like this (I’m looking at you Revolution Skincare!).
The scent is the first thing that hits you, and I can’t quite put my finger on what it is. Sometimes I think its candyfloss, and others I think its like rose scented sweets, either way I find it quite off putting. It lingers on the skin for quite some time and as a gal who doesn’t enjoy scented products, I just wish this wasn’t included.
It sunk into the skin easily, and did leave the skin visibly glowier afterwards without an oily or sticky feeling. Makeup applied over the top nicely, although I was careful to allow plenty of time for everything to sink in before I went in with other base products. On a day to day basis when I don’t wear foundation, I found 5 minutes was enough before going into concealer and cream bronzer products.
After using this serum for about three weeks, my skin did look extra glowy. I found it fit into my morning skin routine with relative ease, but the scent put me off wanting to continue with this specific product. I would be open to trying something else with niacinamide in it, but without the scent, I wouldn’t repurchase this serum.
Glow Eye Cream. Brightening and Hydrating.
I always like to try my hand at an eye cream, although I have my favourites this one just spoke to me. It claims on the tube to be brightening and hydrating and that’s all I ever want from an eye cream! I usually only use an eye cream in my night time routine, so tried this out after toner and serums but before moisturisers in the evening.
I found the formula to be much thinner than my usual eye creams, and although the product was hydrating on first application, by the morning it didn’t seem to have made any lasting difference. I felt like I needed to include an eye cream in my morning routine which isn’t a step I normally I do, but the whole eye area felt dry and in need of a bit more love.
I have since tried this eye cream in a variety of ways, and the way I enjoy it now is using it just as a day time cream when I feel the need. This isn’t a regular step everyday, but some days if I’m feeling a bit more tiered or if I did a particularly heavy eye makeup look the day before sometimes there is the need.
As a hydrating and glowy eye cream, this doesn’t live up my hopes, but fits well into my morning routine as an extra step. I have other eye creams I prefer so I wouldn’t recommend this one, but if you don’t have dry skin and are just looking for a lightweight affordable option, this one is lovely.
Have you tried anything from this range, or any other affordable skincare brands you think I should try? Let me know!

The eye cream looks divine! I’m always on the fence about eye creams as I’ve heard mixed information on whether or not they are necessary. However, if the brightening and hydrating claims on the one you’ve featured are true, then I may have to give it a try!

I’m on that same journey! But I also love skincare so I don’t mind so much! I get what you mean how some scents can be such a put off for products. Hopefully you’ll find another one you like!

I haven’t tried either of these products, but the eye cream in particular, sounds very disappointing! I’ll be skipping them x

I’m on the same path as you! But I really enjoy skincare, so it’s not a big deal for me! I understand how some fragrances might turn people away from items. Hopefully, you’ll discover something else you enjoy!
I use THICK eye creams as my under eye is one of the driest part of my face and really struggle with concealer making it look much worse if I don’t slather them in something prior to application so I don’t think this one would be enough for me. I’m a huge fan of the Boots skincare range though, I use a few bits from their hyaluronic range and think they’re great budget options x
