Spring Skin Care Routine – Garnier Vitamin C Serum Cream SPF Review!

Here comes the sun da da do do… She says longingly, whilst staring out the window at the SNOW! A girl can wish. The calendar tells me its spring, the weather not so much. However I’m trying to start the summer skin prep early, and implementing a solid sun protection factor cream in my everyday routine to make it habit is one I like to prioritise.

SPF is a complete non negotiable for me, and should be for everyone, and through the winter I switch it up quite a bit with a lower factor. Come summer I will need higher than 25SPF, but for now in these transitional spring days this is the perfect amount for me. I use a glycolic acid toner every evening in my skincare routine so protecting my skin during the day is always a necessity.

Garnier SkinActive Vitamin C 2in1 Brightening Serum Cream SPF 25 50ml – £9.99 on Boots.com

Want even, radiant skin that glows? Our Vitamin C Serum Cream combines the benefits of both a brightening serum, with lasting moisture of a cream in the SPF 25 moisturiser. Our formula is concentrated with 20% serum enriched with Vitamin C* & Super Citrus in addition to an SPF 25 moisturiser, to protect your skin from sun-induced dark spots. Vitamin C* a dermatological active  helps to boost glow and enhance your skin’s radiance. As an antioxidant, it also helps protect your skin from harm such as sun damage. Super Citrus is a natural renewable ingredient that is well known for its brightening properties.  This is all carefully blended to brighten dull and uneven skin without being heavy or greasy. Our formula has been dermatologically tested and is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin.

This product is described as a serum cream, so I wasn’t expecting such a thick creamy texture. It truly feels like a night cream at first, but it does warm up and melt into the skin beautifully. With the heat from my hands it does thin out and spread over the face beautifully and I find two pumps is the perfect amount to take down the neck too.

SPF can sometimes cause me to break out, especially cheaper ones, but this one hasn’t had that affect on me. I cant say I found the vitamin C element to make to much of a difference, but I do often use a vitamin C serum in my routine anyway. It wears nicely under makeup, I haven’t found a product that it doesn’t sit well with yet, and the way it sinks into the skin and leaves the skin feeling I cant see it being a problem any time soon.

As far as the moisturising cream claims go, I am a dry skin gal and I need hydration. I do find I need other skincare products before, hyaluronic acid serum and moisturiser (currently using the simple water cream but this changes often). When I used just the SPF serum cream my skin still felt thirsty and tight, but over my other products it worked well and layered nicely.

Our product is certified organic with a vegan formula. No animal derived ingredients or by-products inside.  All Garnier products globally are officially approved by Cruelty Free International under the Leaping Bunny programme.

Would I Recommend?

Absolutely! I find it so easy to use in my routine, its a simple product the delivers the results I need. I don’t use this as my only moisturiser, but if you had normal or oily skin this may be enough for you. For this time of year, an SPF 25 is sufficient, but come summer I would recommend a higher factor.

Have you tried this new release from Garnier, what’s your favourite SPF product? Let me know!

  6. It’s great it layers well and doesn’t break you out! I find a lot of sunscreens break me out, it’s so hard to find one that’s high SPF that doesn’t break me out, especially as it has to be a daily wear here!

Hope you are having a good week. I’m looking forward to the long weekend over Easter 🙂
